Is getting 6GB on a laptop worth it?

Why not if you can afford it. Personally, I only have 2GB in my Windows 7 64-Bit computer and it's running fine. In a couple years however you will probably want the extra RAM and there will undoubtedly be times when you do get the benefits from having the extra memory.
