Can we pray and ask God to soften a person's heart?

I do...and especially to soften my own heart. In the real world there is a lot of things said to intentionally hurt others and in my case unintentionally. The nicer I get the meaner I sound. I pray for me more than others because of what I say and how I use the intonation of the voice. Praying for everyone's heart is imperative especially in our days and times when people are suppose to be ....blunt........sometimes to the point of rudeness
