37 wks 2 days pregnant and cervix is still closed and not dilated?

So I'm 37 wks pregnant and in was having contractions 5 mins apart for 2 days. I decided to go into labor and delivery and they checked me and said I'm indeednhaving 5 min apart contractions but they are mild. They also checked me and said I'm not dilated at all, my cervix is still posterior and closed, however it's softening and thinning. I've been walking alot, having sex, and feeling so much vaginal pressure so why am I not making progress?? How long before my cervix start to open? And I go into active labor? Anyone with experience? When did u have ur baby? I really don't wanna go another 3 weeks as inamorata miserable with high blood pressure and swollen handstand feet
